Getting the Little Ones Equipped For Winter

It's that time of the year again..."cold"..."rainy"...."snowy". Some of us like Francine and I look forward to warm nights by the fireplace and hot chocolate by the Christmas tree. However, there are many who dread these times. Working with school administration and site coordinators in schools like G.H. Reid Elementary in the city of Richmond where most of the kids wear the same clothes everyday, is an exact and extreme indication of those who see the holiday as bitter sweet. Francine, a longtime donor and supporter of HopeFor Learning also realizes that and her contributions has helped us to start a nice fund for those kids during these next few months. Donations like hers is key to how we continue to serve these underserved kids. Reid Elementary isn't the only school that deals with issues like kids wearing the same clothes everyday. There are many schools we serve with the same misfortune. Coats and shoes are the main items of clothing that they need to fight off the elements this Fall and Winter and many are wearing shoes now that are not even sufficient for summer wear. HopeFor Learning has set up this campaign and fundraiser to supplement what Francine and many of our other donors are doing to make sure kids don't have to go without a coat and adequate shoes this holiday. Francine feels that we shouldn't have to beg to help those who are not as fortunate as us and who are living below the poverty level and it gives her great pleasure and satisfaction that she can do something to help at least a few kids, even if it doesn't scrape the surface. If you feel the same, I encourage you to support this fundraiser and campaign and see that as many children as possible doesn't go without decent shoes and coats this winter.
